Sections in the AIU Tony Wilmot Memorial Library

Ground Floor


Security Section: This is where all the movements; in and out of the library, tally registrations of users and laptops scanning are controlled, library property and user’s properties such as laptops and bags are also secured here by the security officers.


Circulation Section: This area manages the lending and renewal of books, as well as services like general inquiry, issuing clearances, management of reserve and short loan collection, laptop registration and registration of external library members.


Multimedia Section: This area provides computer-based services, IT instructional sessions, library technical seminars, photocopying, printing, and online research.


Shelf/ Stacks Area: This area contains library racks where print books are shelved, enabling patrons to browse the collection and retrieve books. The books are arranged on the racks according to the Library of Congress Classification


Reprographic Section: This is where large volumes of photocopying and spiral binding take place.


Reading Area: This encompasses the entire space on both the right and left sides of the library after the circulation desk. It offers ample seating and a conducive environment for study and research.


Study Cubes Section: This is located on the left side of the library; only postgraduate students (masters) are eligible to rent daily or per semester.


Current Awareness Area: New books, new journals, newspapers, magazines, and newsletters are displayed in this area. It also provides a waiting area for visitors.


Library Offices Section: This is where all the administrative library offices are located, including the University librarian’s office, the technical service office where all processing is done, the systems librarian’s office, and the user services librarian’s office.


OPAC Area: This is where patrons search for library holdings on computers, aiding in the retrieval of items.

First Floor


Doctoral Students Study Carrels section: This is where doctoral students conduct their studies and research work. The section also provides space for external researchers to rent.


Serials/Classical Section: All biographies, non-current serials, and fiction are shelved here.


Discussion Room: This section is where all discussions and collaborative learning take place.


Special Collection Room: This section holds all dissertations and rare collections.
