Entrepreneurship is about being innovative and alert to opportunities for competitiveness, sustainability, and profit maximization where applicable. Entrepreneurship is a dynamic social process where individuals either alone or in collaboration identify opportunities for innovation and act upon them by transforming ideas into practical targeted activities whether in a social, cultural, or financial context.

The EGEC aims to provide the impetus for strengthening the next generation of courageous, creative men and women who will change the world in matters of solving social problem and wealth creation. This is being done by exploring the contemporary view of youth and women’s entrepreneurial leadership. In addition, the center is working in partnership with institutions committed to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit among the youth and women entrepreneurs. The Hub is at an advanced stage in the creation of a business incubator in which innovative businesses with an emphasis on climate change objectives will be incubated for a specified period This is being done in collaboration with Lion-Den.org, through the ‘Building local investor-entrepreneur communities with global impact’ initiative.

The center is currently engaged in developing entrepreneurial skills for organized community groups with emphasis on women and youth through training and mentorship programs. Some priority areas of interest topics covered include Entrepreneurship – Idea generation and start ups; 100x Kingdom Growth (by Africa Community Aid – ACAID); Transforming Africa through Entrepreneurship, among others. The center has embarked on undertaking needs assessment as well as landscape analysis to generate information that will inform the planning and implementation of activities that are relevant to the context and clear on programmatic gaps. Through the analysis, the center will develop a gender strategy to mainstream gender issues in the other Hub Center activities and operations

The Center has started exploring the entry points and priority areas for research on climate change and entrepreneurship. This is with the understanding that entrepreneurs have a potential for reversing some of the adverse effects of climate change through their innovations and entrepreneurial mindsets they can fast track projects that bring answers to climate change challenges. The findings will enlighten the center on social enterprises to initiate, especially in line with energy issues.
