We are seeking a highly motivated professional to fill the following position:
Network and Systems Administrator – Vacancy Code (N&S ADMIN-24) (1 Position)
This position will be reporting to the University ICT Manager.
Job Purpose:
This position exists to provide system server administration and security, automation of tasks, backup and restore administration, office365 administration among other tasks in a manner that contributes to the development of a customer service culture that values high performance of the institution’s server.
Main Responsibilities:
- Server Administration:
- Oversee the server environment by updating server software, applying patches, monitoring server health, managing hardware replacements, and automating tasks with scripts.
- User/Group Administration:
- Manage user accounts, mailboxes, security, and distribution groups, ensuring alignment with ICT policies.
- Automate routine tasks and set up synchronization configurations with applications integrated with Active Directory.
- Security Administration:
- Enhance network security by installing and managing firewalls, data encryption, VPNs, and endpoint protection.
- Train staff on security procedures, perform audits and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Network Administration:
- Design and deploy LANs, WANs, and WLANs; create network documentation; and manage network hardware.
- Research new network products and standards to improve infrastructure.
- Task Automation:
- Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell and Bash scripting.
- Stay updated on scripting trends to enhance operational efficiency.
- Backup Administration:
- Identify critical data, schedule and test backups, and handle restore requests.
- Ensure cost-effective, secure onsite and offsite data backup.
- Office365 Administration:
- Manage Office365 features, including email backup, anti-spam, and device remote wipe.
- Configure DirSync and ADFS, administer Microsoft Azure, monitor Office365 performance, manage SharePoint sites, enforce security policies, and troubleshoot user issues
Requirements: Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Engineering.
- Preferred Certifications
- MCSE/MCSA
- LFCS/LFCE
- At least 5 years post training experience
- Must be familiar with; Microsoft Windows Server administration, Linux Server/System Administration, Office365 administration, and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
- Have technical understanding and ability to analyze information
- Problem Solving skills
- Time Management skills
- A Committed Christian
