International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL)

ICDL, (International Certificate of Digital Literacy) is a globally recognized certification programme that verifies an individual’s proficiency in essential computer skills. ICDL has developed a diverse range of modules, from basic computer use, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and online collaboration, to advanced digital skills for occupational effectiveness as well as new and emerging technologies.

To obtain ICDL certification, one has to undergo training or self-study for the relevant modules and then take standardized tests to demonstrate their competence. The certification is awarded upon successfully completing these tests, providing a valuable credential that signifies a person’s ability to use digital tools effectively in various professional and personal contexts.

ICDL Profiles are simply groups of modules, from one or more ICDL Programmes, which are customised to suit a specific job role or sector, field of study, or type of learner. ICDL Profiles streamline learning, ensuring individuals acquire skills directly applicable to their professions, field of study, age or digital skills level. This targeted approach enhances efficiency and relevance, aligning education with real-world demands.
