AIU Signs Strategic MoU with Dallas Theological Seminary

Africa International University (AIU) is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS), a globally recognized institution for theological education. The agreement, signed by our Vice Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Nelson Makanda, and Mr. Ortis representing DTS, marks a significant milestone in advancing AIU’s mission of equipping Christ-centered leaders for Africa and beyond.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Mission

Both AIU and DTS are committed to excellence in theological education, leadership development, and Christian ministry. This MoU establishes a framework for long-term collaboration, leveraging the unique strengths of each institution to expand opportunities for faculty, students, and communities.

Key Areas of Collaboration

The MoU focuses on several areas designed to enrich both institutions:

  • 1. Faculty Development and Exchange
  • DTS will provide visiting faculty and advanced PhD students to teach, mentor, and participate in AIU’s Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST).
  • AIU faculty will gain opportunities to serve as visiting scholars at DTS, access world-class research resources, and collaborate on global academic projects.
  • Both universities will engage in joint supervision of graduate theses and dissertations.
  • 2. Student Exchange Opportunities
  • AIU and DTS students will benefit from semester-long exchange programs, with access to academic, cultural, and ministry experiences in both Kenya and the United States.
  • Virtual course-sharing will allow students to sit in selected classes across institutions, broadening exposure to global theological perspectives.
  • Students will collaborate in pastoral training initiatives and community-based ministry, particularly in under-resourced areas.
  • 3. Program and Ministry Development
  • DTS will support AIU’s non-formal pastoral training initiatives by sharing resources, providing faculty engagement, and encouraging students to serve in grassroots ministry.
  • Both institutions will jointly explore new programs that expand the reach of theological education in Africa and beyond.

Why This Matters

This partnership reflects AIU’s commitment to building strong global networks while staying rooted in the African context. By joining hands with DTS, AIU strengthens its ability to prepare leaders who are academically sound, spiritually grounded, and missionally engaged.

“This MoU opens doors for new dimensions of academic excellence and ministry impact. It is a step forward in equipping leaders who will transform the Church and society for the glory of God,”said Rev. Dr. Nelson Makanda, Vice Chancellor of AIU.

Looking Ahead

The collaboration will be overseen by coordinators from both institutions, ensuring smooth implementation of faculty exchanges, student opportunities, and program development. Together, AIU and DTS are committed to shaping the next generation of Christian leaders through robust, Christ-centered education.
