Africa International University (AIU) has entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Soongsil University, Seoul, South Korea, aimed at enhancing capacity and training in computing and emerging technologies across Africa.
Through this collaboration, facilitated by AIU’s School of Computing and Emerging Technologies (SCET), both universities will engage in student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives in IT and computer science, and collaborative curriculum development. The goal is to equip students with skills that meet global standards and prepare them to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Dr. Jared Mayieka, Dean of SCET, emphasized the value of global exposure for AIU students.

Dr. Younjai Lee, President of Soongsil University, underscored the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of technology. He expressed Soongsil University’s commitment to partner with AIU in building Africa’s capacity to become a global leader in AI and related fields. Dr. Lee made these remarks during a courtesy visit from Dr. Makanda, accompanied by AIU Emeritus Prof. Caleb Kim, to Soongsil University’s main campus in Seoul. Established in 1897, Soongsil University holds the distinction of being South Korea’s first university.
