The Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies programme is designed to provide scholarly and professional training to those directly involved in pastoral ministries of the church. It seeks to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to enhance competencies in pastoral leadership and church administration while at the same time preparing students for further studies.

Using the in-service approach, the programme is delivered on campus and at various sites through block courses

  • Interact biblically and intelligently with historical and current theological issues and positions within the African and global contexts
  • Demonstrate a thorough grasp of counselling skills for helping individuals to deal with diverse life issues affecting them.
  • Clearly articulate the call of Christian to world evangelization and demonstrate that understanding through personal involvement.
  • Demonstrate basic teaching skills in one’s area of ministry
  • Demonstrate the understanding of one’s calling, gifts, and abilities so as function well in pastoral ministries
  • Exemplify moral and ethical integrity in all dealings with fellow believers and society in general.

Entry requirements


Holders of a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Honours [Upper Division] or higher) from Africa International University or other universities recognized by the Africa International University Senate.


Holders of a Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Honours [Lower Division]) from Africa International University who have at least two years of relevant experience.


Holders of a postgraduate diploma (credit level or higher) from Africa International University or other institutions recognized by the Africa International University Senate.


In exceptional cases, Senate, on the recommendation of any of the schools, may admit to the Masters program, applicants who do not hold a first degree, provided that such candidates, based on the research and academic work they have done, can demonstrate that they are well qualified to undertake postgraduate work. This is so long as it is in line with the relevant regulatory bodies

Remote Teaching & Learning via Microsoft Team-Semester

Evening classes- Monday-Thursday (Intake: Jan, May, Sept)

Weekend classes – Friday-Saturday (Intake : Jan, May, Sept)

Modular classes for 2 weeks( April, August, Nov/Dec)
