Africa International University (AIU) is inviting eligible students in the Department of Development Studies to apply for an exciting international academic mobility opportunity at the University of Life Sciences, Timișoara, Romania.
Two (2) AIU students will be selected to participate in a three-month Erasmus Student Exchange/Mobility Programme, scheduled to run from 1 October to December 2026.
The programme offers students an opportunity to gain international academic exposure, engage with new perspectives and deepen their understanding of the relationship between agriculture, rural development and sustainable livelihoods.
Interested students will first undergo an internal shortlisting process at AIU. Shortlisted candidates will then be required to participate in an online interview via Zoom with representatives of the University of Life Sciences, Timișoara.
The selection process will seek to identify students who are academically prepared, motivated and capable of making meaningful use of the international learning opportunity.
With the mobility scheduled to commence on 1 October 2026, the application timeline is very short. Qualified and interested students are strongly encouraged to apply immediately.
Making an Impact Beyond the Exchange
The Erasmus experience is intended to extend beyond the three months in Romania. Upon returning to AIU, selected students will be expected to share and apply the knowledge, skills and experiences gained during the mobility.
They will also be expected to identify ways in which their learning can contribute to AIU and the Department of Development Studies and submit a report outlining their experiences, learning outcomes and recommendations.
For AIU students, the programme represents an opportunity to step beyond the classroom, gain international exposure and engage with development challenges and solutions from a global perspective. It will also provide a platform to connect academic learning with practical ideas in agriculture, rural development and sustainable livelihoods, while developing the confidence and skills required to participate in an increasingly interconnected world.
