At African International University, ideas matter. Research, innovation, and creative expression are central to our mission—and Intellectual Property (IP) is what protects, guides, and gives value to these ideas. Understanding IP is essential for students, staff, and faculty as it shapes how knowledge is created, shared, and transformed into meaningful impact.

This session will highlight the importance of protecting original work, upholding academic integrity, and leveraging ideas for innovation and commercialization. Participants will also gain insight into legal compliance, collaborative partnerships, and how IP builds career and entrepreneurial capacity while balancing knowledge protection with societal impact.

The session will be led by Eng. Benson Kariuki, a Certified IP Professional from the JKUAT IP Directorate, who will provide practical guidance on ownership, ethical use, and maximizing the value of intellectual work.

All students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to attend and gain essential knowledge on protecting and transforming their ideas into real-world impact.
