Greetings from Africa International University. We are grateful to God for his mercies and abundant grace. His word reminds us that he is a source of strength and hope for all who run to him.
Over the years, Africa International University has been experiencing growth, for which we thank God. This academic year, we were able to admit well over 300 new students, most of whom are government sponsored undergraduate students’ taking courses in the Schools of Business and Education. In addition, we admitted masters’ students in the areas of missions, Biblical studies and theology. Doctor of Philosophy students were mainly in theological studies and education.
In our commitment to educate Christ centered leaders for the transformation of God’s people and the world through innovative programs, all of our current 28 academic programs have been accredited by the Commission for the University Education- the body that regulates and assures quality of university education in Kenya by setting standards and monitoring compliance to achieve global competitiveness. This is a major milestone for us as we channel graduates in the job market. In addition to getting our programs accredited, our curriculum creates fora where the students get to learn about Jesus Christ; in whom, as Paul says in Colossians 3:2, are hidden all treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In addition, the chaplaincy office has worked tirelessly to integrate our students in chapel, the Christian Union and Grace Groups (small group Bible study groups comprising of Faculty, staff and students).
This year, we are in the process of constructing the university internal road with the aim of creating a healthy dust free environment, and also to make the university more appealing and marketable. The implementation of the project is divided into three phases: 1.2Km Road-works (Phase I); Lighting System &Outfall Drainage (Phase II) Gates and Parking areas (Phase III). About 80% of the funds for phase 1 have so far been raised. We continue to appeal for financial support to complete this project this year.
As we thank God for this significant growth, the process has not been without challenges. Due to the large number of students admitted, we have faced the issue of shortage of student accommodation and lecture rooms. The university has taken measures to address these challenges including sourcing accommodation in the neighborhood. We are happy that every student who applied for housing was accommodated either on or off campus, as we look for resources to enable us construct our own hostels.
The Lord has proved faithful over the years, and even now as we look to the future, we are assured that He will guide us still.
