Historic Visit to Emmanuel Christian University!

The Secretary General (SG) of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), Rev. Dr. Master Matlhaope, recently graced Emmanuel Christian University (ECU) in South Sudan as the esteemed guest speaker for its first-ever graduation ceremony. In his dual role as SG of AEA and Chancellor of Africa International University (AIU), Rev. Dr. Matlhaope was accompanied by Dr. Florence Mungathia, Director of Institutional Development and Brand Management at AIU. They received a warm welcome in Juba, especially from AIU alumni who were encouraged by the SG to serve their nation with both faith and professional excellence.

At ECU, Rev. Dr. Matlhaope engaged with the university’s Board and church leaders, emphasizing the need for practical, contextually relevant education in nation-building. In his graduation speech themed “Faith in Action: Breaking New Ground,” he inspired graduates to use their education to tackle pressing challenges like poverty and governance in South Sudan’s volatile environment (VUCA). He also had exciting news for the top graduates, announcing partial scholarships to continue their studies at AIU, and discussed potential collaborations with the South Sudanese government through AIU’s School of Leadership and Governance.

This visit highlighted the SG’s profound leadership in his dual capacity—uniting faith-based leadership with academic excellence. His powerful message reinforced the importance of integrating faith, education, and leadership as key elements for the transformation and rebuilding of South Sudan.

We are excited to see what the future holds for these graduates and the role they will play in shaping their nation!
