Honoring Our Roots, Celebrating Our Future: AIU Founders' Celebration & Alumni Homecoming 2025

Africa International University (AIU) marked a momentous milestone this July as we commemorated the Founders’ Celebration and Alumni Homecoming — a heartfelt tribute to the visionaries who laid the university’s foundation and a joyful reunion of our alumni community.

This year’s celebrations were especially significant as they coincided with the university’s 40th graduation — a testament to four decades of unwavering commitment to Christ-centered education, academic excellence, and transformative leadership across Africa and beyond.

The celebrations began with a series of events under the theme “The Beginnings of NEGST/AIU: Aspirations of Her Founders.” From insightful public lectures to uplifting worship sessions, the celebrations were designed to honor the past, engage the present, and inspire the future. The first public lecture was delivered by Prof. Samuel Ngewa on the Aspirations of AIU’s Founders. This was followed by a lecture from our former chancellor, Prof. Watson Omulokoli, titled “A Legacy of Faithfulness: Reflections on the Founding and Future of AIU.”

One of the highlights was the Alumni Homecoming, where students, staff, faculty, and alumni gathered to reflect on AIU’s humble beginnings and the sacrificial efforts of early pioneers such as Dr. Byan Henry Kato, Tony Wilmot, Dr. Tokunboh Adeyemo, and Dr. Modupe Taylor-Pearce, among others. Through moving testimonies, songs of praise, and shared stories, the AIU community rekindled the spirit that birthed the institution.

On July 1st, AIU alumni from across the country and beyond returned for the long-awaited Alumni Homecoming. The day was filled with warmth, laughter, and shared memories. Alumni enjoyed good food and two memorable public lectures — one in honor of Dr. Tokunboh Adeyemo by Prof. James Nkansah, and another titled “From a Dream of Faith to a Legacy of Impact” by former principal Dr. David Kasali.

The celebrations culminated on July 4th with the university’s 40th graduation ceremony — a proud moment as hundreds of graduates walked across the stage, cheered on by family, faculty, and fellow alumni. The graduation served as a powerful reminder of AIU’s enduring mission: to equip Christ-centered leaders for service and transformation in Africa and beyond.

As we look to the future, this year’s Founders’ Celebration and Alumni Homecoming served not only as a time of remembrance, but also as a celebration of NEGST/AIU’s milestones in shaping Christ-centered leaders since its inception. The Alumni Office has embarked on a mission to keep AIU alumni connected to the university — rallying graduates to participate in mentorship, university initiatives, and strategic development. Alumni are encouraged to remain actively engaged — to give back not just financially, but through time, wisdom, and service.

On behalf of the Alumni Office, we sincerely thank everyone who made the celebrations a success — our speakers, organizers, attendees, and support teams. Your efforts, presence, and dedication made the event truly memorable. We deeply appreciate each one of you.
