Africa International University (AIU) and Light Up Hope have today formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking the beginning of a new chapter of collaboration aimed at creating opportunities for students and contributing to transformative impact in communities.
The partnership brings together the strengths and shared aspirations of the two institutions around key areas of collaboration, including scholarship and student sponsorship programmes, mentorship and leadership development, research, innovation and community impact, as well as business development and innovation incubation.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Chang’ach, the Deputy Vice Chancellor led the AIU delegation during the signing ceremony. The Light Up Hope delegation was led by Kelly Shaughnessy, Founder and President, alongside Kelsey Little, Director of Development, and Scevar Swaro, Deputy Director of Programs and Monitoring & Evaluation, together with members of the organisation’s team.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to investing in people and creating pathways through which education can translate into meaningful opportunities and lasting community transformation. Through scholarships and sponsorship, students will have greater opportunities to access university education, while mentorship and leadership initiatives will seek to equip them with the skills, values and confidence to make a difference in their communities and beyond.
The collaboration will also create space for joint research, innovation and community-focused initiatives, while exploring opportunities for business development and innovation incubation that can nurture ideas and contribute to sustainable solutions.
Today’s signing is therefore more than a formal agreement; it is the beginning of a journey grounded in a shared vision of hope, opportunity and transformation.
As AIU and Light Up Hope move forward together, the partnership opens the door to initiatives that have the potential to change lives, strengthen communities and empower a new generation of leaders.
